I saw a book one time titled Uncommon Fenders. It was full of photographs of actual Fender guitars done up in some of the most unusual custom designs. Many of them were gem encrusted, gold plated, leather bound, hyper-colorized, pearlized, anodized, synchronized. They matched people's boots, cars, horses, houses. If you could dream up your wildest guitar, these people already thought of it or had done one better.

So I says to myself "Self!" I can do one of those two. But if I can't really afford one at this time, I can sure draw a picture of it. Well, here it is. A blue lacquered Fender Precision (I play one) Bass Guitar with gold-plated hardware. The theme is lapis lazuli and gold with an image of Tutankamen's mask feathered into the finish. The face plate is inscribed with random hieroglyphics, the tuning keys are designed after Tut's earrings, and the fingerboard is inlaid at the marker frets with the semiprecious stones which make up the chest plate on Tut's mask.

If you would like to see a close-up of the guitar, click ahead, but beware that the image is large and may take a while to load.

Thanks for dropping by.
